Gulf Islands national Seashore
Cat Island, Horn Island, Petit Bois Island, and Ship Island are among the six barrier islands of Coastal Mississippi that make up the Gulf Islands National Seashore, and each offers something special to offer tourists. Cat Island is home to a variety of birds and alligators in its bayous and wetlands. It’s remarkable in that the entire island is privately owned, except for western half and southern tip. Petit Bois Island, which translates to “small woods,” is about 6 miles long and offers excellent swimming and fishing opportunities. The Gulf Islands National Seashore Davis Bayou Area in Ocean Springs, in addition to these offshore areas, offers a variety of recreational options. The park also has a fishing pier and a boat launch, as well as the Davis Bayou Trail, which takes visitors through a coastal forest and over two local bayous. The Davis Bayou Campground has 51 camping sites available for bookings.
